## What we store

This website saves your display preferences on your device. That’s it.

### Your preferences: `bicho.preferences` (localStorage)

When you pick a theme (Light / Dark / System) or toggle High Contrast mode, we save your choice to your browser’s localStorage under `bicho.preferences`. This data never leaves your device. We also read an older `theme` key for compatibility. Clear the site’s browser storage to reset it.

## What we don’t do

- No third-party analytics scripts or advertising pixels.
- No ads, no cross-site tracking, no sale of analytics data.
- No fingerprinting or visitor identifiers.
- No account required.

## Cookieless analytics

We count page views and clicks so we know which pages people actually use. The counting is first-party and server-side. Nothing is stored on your device:

- Our analytics never store your IP address or use visitor identifiers.
- We record the page path, referring website, and outbound links people click. No search terms, fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking.
- We do not sell analytics data or use it for advertising. We respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control.

## The search index

The search palette uses our [Astro Search plugin](https://github.com/freshjuice-dev/astro-search-plugin). Searches run entirely in your browser. Your search terms never leave your device.

## The documentation MCP

The public `/mcp` endpoint returns documentation and the API reference. It processes tool arguments to answer requests, but our handler does not save them or chat history in an application database. It cannot access your Cloudflare account or a private Bicho installation. Do not send credentials or private error data. Your MCP client and AI provider have their own policies.

## Hosting

Cloudflare hosts this website and processes connection information, including IP addresses and HTTP headers, to deliver and protect requests. Its security features may set cookies depending on configuration. Hosting logs are separate from our application analytics. See [Cloudflare’s privacy policy](https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/).

Fonts and scripts load from this site. External links take you to services with their own privacy practices. This policy covers the website, not data collected by your own Bicho installation; see the [product privacy guide](/docs/privacy/) for that.
